Il Duomo di cefalu

A beautiful sea-side resort, well known for its Duomo, an impressive norman church, whose facade shows two imposing towers garnished with two-light windows and an elegant decoration with intertwined arches, facing the magnificient square, on which the Archbishop residence also overlooks.

Cefalu- Cristo Pantocrator

In the internal central apse, the Christ Pantocrator shows his majesty by its byzantine mosaics iconography, similar to the samples at Cappella Palatina in Palermo and at the Duomo in Monreale. The baptismal font dated to the XII century, some tombstone sculptures and a statue of the Virgin with Child of Gagini (1533) are not to be missed.
Ritratto Di IgnotoThrough the via Mandralisca, the Duomo opposite, the omonymous museum exibits the extraordinary expressive “Ritratto d’ignoto” (Portrait of Unknown) by Antonello da Messina among the important collections belonged to Baron Piraino di Mandralisca.
Walking along via Vittorio Emanuele, towards the sea, the medieval wash-tub, stone carved, still water flowing.
Crossing Porta Pescara and via Ortolani di Bordonaro, after piazza Crispi and climbing up to the rampart a breathtaking view is enjoyable.
Suggestable shopping through the various lanes in down town, capturing the local atmosphere and having a look at the church of Addolorata, with its imposing facade and to the Osterio Magno, a fortified public building, enriched with polychrome decorations and thin mullioned windows.
